U.S. Mens Soccer Team

This is video I shot of the World Cup Qualifier on June 4, 2005. I added some editting and music. I know it's not the greatest, but it gives a good idea of what it was like to be there.

Separation of Church and State?

I'm reading a book called "1776" by, author, David McCullough. I found, in it, this quote from Nathaniel Greene, leader of the Rhode Island Kentish Guards and one of George Washington's most trusted officers. I felt like it really sums up the sentiment upon which this nation was founded. It also is evidence that these men were men of God and intended for God to be part of this nation. Before this point, the colonials were not interested in independence from Britain, then on January 1, 1776 the colonials received a copy of a speech given, by King George III, to Parliament in October 1775. King George III had declared the the colonials as traitorous rebels. This caused the colonials to desire Independence from Britain instead of reconciliation. Here is what Nathaniel Greene had to say:

"Heaven hath decreed that tottering empire Britain to irretrievable ruin and thanks to God, since Providence hath so determined, America must raise an empire of permanent duration, supported upon the grand pillars of Truth, Freedom, and Religion, encouraged by the smiles of Justice and defended by her own patriotic sons...Permit me then to recommend from the sincerity of my heart, ready at all times to bleed in my country's cause, a Declaration of Independence, and call upon the world and the great God who governs it to witness the necessity, propriety and rectitude thereof."
- Nathaniel Greene

God bless the United States of America

Dungeons and Dragons

One of the geekiest things I did as a kid was play Dungeons and Dragons. My friends and I would even play over the phone. My friend had multiple lines in his home so he and his brothers could all get on the phone and play. I remember one particular episode where we were playing and my character found a rock with some writing on it. I didn't know what to do with it, so I asked the Dungeon Master. He told me that I could do whatever I wanted with it and gave me some suggestions. One of his suggestions was to throw it. I decided to throw it and it broke. All of a sudden my other friend started crying, literally. He told me that it was some kind of elemental and that I had destroyed it forever. It was as if someone close to him had died, that's how upset he was. If I could go back in time to that day, I think I would tell him to get a life.

Worst Movie Ever

Yesterday I stayed home from work because I was sick. I decided to get a movie on Pay-Per View, "Larry The Cable Guy: Heath Inspector". What a waste of $3.99 that was. This movie was terrible on so many levels. I'm a fan of Larry's stand-up comedy, but this movie didn't even come close. I didn't laugh once. It was like Larry trying to do a remake of "Ace Venture: Pet Detective" only with him playing a health inspector instead of a pet detective. What made Jim Carey great in Ace Ventura was his improvisational ability and becoming a character that is dumb but affable. In the case of Larry, everything seemed canned and rehearsed to the point where even the actors didn't think it was funny any longer and he never endears you to his character. In fact I was actually hoping that he'd get some kind of intestinal infection and let his co-stars pick up the slack.

"Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector" was also offensive on many levels. Whether he knowingly did it or not, he offended women, blacks, Arabs, Jews, mentally disabled, and physically disabled. I can't even understand how the women actors in the film put up with all the misogynistic sewage.

What's funny about Larry's stand-up act is that he plays a stupid guy that's making irreverent observations on life. He makes stupid racist comments and misogynist comments in his stand-up routine and the audience excuses it because he's playing the stereotypical redneck. In this movie, Larry plays like he's smarter than or on par with all the "intelligent" characters (I use that term loosely) and that's what makes his routine offensive.

Larry, no, this ain't Russia. It's the U.S.A. We've come a long way since women's suffrage and civil-rights. I usually agree with your political point-of-view, but this movie only deprecates any intelligible message you might have conveyed.

Holding it in

Has anyone else had this happen? Do you sit down or lay down, get comfortable, then have the urge to go to the bathroom hit you but you're so comfortable that you hold it in instead? (How's that for a run-on sentence?) I'm like that almost every day of my life. I can literally say that I'm full of crap most of the time.

Also, this is off the subject, does anyone read this blog? Based on the lack of comments I'm going to have to say probably not. Maybe I need to get out and pimp it more. But then again, who really gives a rat's?

Rat Man Video

This one made me laugh so hard I actually lost 10 lbs.

9-11: Five Years Later

On September 11, 2001 we were attacked by Islamic fascists. There is no government conspiracy or cover-up. The simple truth is that we were attacked. It is a day I will remember as long as I live. I was on vacation at a resort in Idaho on 9-11-01. I was awoken by the maid telling me that New York City was under attack. My first thought was that she was exagerrating. She proceeded to tell me that both of the towers of the World Trade Center had fallen down and were no more, the Pentagon had been attacked, and another plane (flight 93) was missing. I was still incredulous. I turned on the TV and saw the images. The word I've heard many people use is sureal. It was definitely sureal.

I really don't want to make a politcal commentary out of this. I just hope people will recognize that there are people in this world that want to do serious harm to the United States. I also hope that people will realize that nearly 3,000 people died on 9-11-01.

I have not read the 9-11 Commision Report, it's something that I should do and something that every American should do. I don't know why this nation is so inclined to believe conspiracy theories.

I think it's important for any critical thinker to look at both sides of an issue and use some reasoning. There is a priciple used in Philosophy, known as Occam's razor, which states that the most plausable explanation is usually the correct explanation. For anyone that is getting information from the 911 conspiracy sites, I would also recommend that you go to http://www.debunking911.com/ so that you can get the other side of the story. Use some critical thought and scientific reasoning. I still respect your opinion.

Most importantly, let us never forget! It's not a question of if we'll be attacked again, it's a question of when.

The solution to taxation

I need to give credit where credit is due. This idea is partially due to a conversation I had today with my buddy, Crapinator. Props to you Crapinator may you get corporate sponsorship soon...

Sports leagues had this one figured out a long time ago, now Uncle Sam just needs to follow suit. I'm talking about corporate sponsorship of America. Instead of the U.S. Marine Corps, it will now be The Wells Fargo U.S. Marine Corps, instead of The White House, it will now be the Tide Detergent White House, instead of The Lincoln Memorial, it will now be known as the FedEx Lincoln Memorial, and instead of The Capital Building it will now be known as Smucker's Jelly Capital Building and Hill.

The American Flag wouldn't be exempt from this either. Budweiser could sponsor the flag and emboss their logo somewhere amongst the 13 strips. Instead of stars in the blue field, the flag could have different corporate logos in their place - not much different from NASCAR, if you ask me and what's more American than NASCAR? That's right, baseball. Baseball's got it down too. In baseball you see corporate sponsorship everywhere, Coors Field, Minute Maid Park, PETCO Park, AT&T Park, Tropicana Field, U.S. Cellular Field, Comerica Park, Safeco Field, and Ameriquest Field. The transition to National Parks would be simple. Instead of Yosemite National Park it would now be AT&T National Park, instead of Yellowstone National Park it will now be Coors National Park, instead of Zion's National Park, it will now be Zion's Bank National Park.

I tell you this idea might sound loco, but it's not too far off. We've got to figure out a way to pay off this big ol' national debt that's accumulating. If the NFL can sign a deal with UPS so that UPS can call itself the official delivery company of the National Football League, then Schwanns can sign a deal with the United States Postal Service to become the official food delivery company of the United States Postal Service. Schwanns delivery guys could deliver mail at the same time they're delivering food. Just think of how much money that would save.

By the way, support the sponsors that you see advertising on this blog. Feeble Attempts at Humor, the official blog of The United States Supreme Court. This Bud's for you Anton Scalia!

UML Drawings

There is not a single funny thing about these and there are no attempts at humor here. I only put these here as a reference for anyone that is taking a database class. Hooray for you!
Someone pointed out to me that feeble is spelled feeble, not feable. Since I'm not an illiterate monkey allowed access to a computer keyboard, I had to change the title of the blog, which means that this blog has a whole new address. Not that anyone reads this mindless tripe anyway.

When I was in high school, I read Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy. Back then I didn't really catch his wit and humor, but I was able to follow the story. I've been re-reading it and now I'm catching his wit, humor, and philosophy. There's a much deeper meaning in it than I originally captured. Any digression attributed to the Hitchhiker's Guide is Douglas Adams' own philosophy on the universe. What makes this work so interesting is that he's able to portray that philosophy in a humorous manner. The use of characters to tell a story keeps the reader's interest while Adams subtley brainwashes you. A good example of this is Adams' own philosophy/belief in, what he calls, radical-athiesm. He uses an allegory of a sentient puddle of water. The water thinks to itself that it fits perfectly in the hole in which it's resting and somehow there must be a higher power in the universe that created the hole for it to rest in so perfectly. It looks up at the sky and sees the sun and starts to worship the sun and thank it for creating it and for creating the hole in which it rests. While all the time the sun is slowly contributing to the water's demise.

I'm not saying that I agree with his radical-atheism, but in a very humorous manner, Douglas Adams has described his belief and I understand his point-of-view. It takes a certain degree of genius to use such metaphorical symbolism.

Not that I could even hold a candle to Douglas Adams, but I'm going to attempt to describe things using allegories, parables, metaphors, and any other literary devices that obscure my real intent. I'll leave it to the reader to decipher the real meaning. There is one particular subject that is pressing on my mind quite a bit at the moment and I will write about it when I've had some time to consider it.

OK, so this post isn't all that funny. Like I said, who reads this mindless tripe any how? And for those that do, I spell checked it, you pedantic gits.

4th Grade

When I was in 4th grade I used to draw a drawing similar to this one. I thought it looked kind of like the Ayatollah Khomeini then by 6th grade he somehow morphed into a hippie and became the mascot of a comic book I would draw for my friends. I don't know what the heck he is now, he kind of looks like The Grim Reaper with a bad perm.

Does this only happen to me?

Maybe it's time to get a Macintosh.

92.7 Joy FM is now 92.7 the River!

I guess it wasn't joyous enough, now they're crying a river.

What is up with radio stations giving themselves nicknames like, "The Jack", "The Arrow", "The End"? Is that supposed to make me want to listen to them? If you're going to give yourself a nickname why don't you give yourself an honest nickname like, "The Repeat", "The Sewer", "The Compost Heap", "The Landfill", or "The Annoyance" at least that way your listeners would know what to expect when they tune in. What kind of music am I supposed to expect at "The Arrow"? The Overture of William Tell? What should I expect at "The End"? Continuous Suicidal Tendencies and Suicidal Tendecies tribute bands?

Maybe this is the reason I listen to sports talk all day long, at least they're honest; 700 AM, "The Zone" as in End Zone or he's on fire he's in a "zone". At least zone has something with sports.

Weird Site of the Day

Okay, this one is just too weird. I think they're trying to be Avant Guarde:

Chinese Zodiac

I think the Chinese should add the Year of The Cockroach to their zodiac. Why? Because there are just some people you can't get rid of no matter how bad you try and I'm pretty sure they were born in the year of the cockroach.

They should also add the Year of The Skunk because of France.
